Regional UNAIDS Delegation Engages with MGFCC in Push Towards Global AIDS Strategy Targets

In a significant step towards driving progress in the fight against HIV/AIDS, the UNAIDS Regional Office visited Malawi from 6 to 10 April 2024. Engaging with key stakeholders in the region, the delegation aimed to accelerate efforts towards achieving the targets set out in the Global AIDS Strategy.

One of the highlights of the visit was a special meeting held with the Malawi Global Fund Country Coordinating Committee (MGFCC) team at the MGFCC Secretariat. During the meeting, discussions centred around the challenges, opportunities, and threats faced in sustaining the progress made in combating HIV/AIDS in Malawi.

The UNAIDS Regional Support Team delegation included Muhammad Saleem, Senior Adviser for Systems and Service; Sanele Masuku, Technical Officer for Programme Monitoring; and Henry Damisoni, Senior Adviser for Strategic Information.

The engagement underscored the collaborative efforts being made to address the complex issues surrounding HIV/AIDS in Malawi and beyond. By partnering with local stakeholders and leveraging their collective expertise, the UNAIDS and the Global Fund demonstrate a strong commitment to advancing the goals of the Global AIDS Strategy.
